Molchanovs Wave 3 Instructor Upgrade
The Molchanovs Wave 3 Instructor Upgrade is designed for certified Molchanovs Instructors who want to expand their teaching scope and offer advanced-level courses to experienced freedivers. This program deepens your understanding of advanced techniques, safety procedures, and the unique challenges of coaching Wave 3 students.
As a Wave 3 Instructor, you’ll be qualified to train and certify students up to an elite level in deep diving, advanced equalization, and high-level mental and physical preparation.
During the upgrade, you will:
- Develop a deeper understanding of advanced freediving theory and physiology.
- Refine your coaching approach to suit experienced freedivers pursuing personal bests.
- Learn how to teach advanced equalization techniques such as Mouthfill and frenzel-fattah adaptations.
- Gain proficiency in advanced safety protocols and emergency management at depth.
- Understand the psychological components of deep diving and how to support your students’ mental preparation.
- Practice structuring and delivering the Wave 3 course in both confined and open water settings.
- Strengthen your role-model demonstrations and teaching presence at an elite level.
Prerequisites
To enroll in the Lap 3 Instructor Upgrade, you must:
- Be a certified Molchanovs Instructor (Lap 2) in active teaching status.
- Have at least 1 year of teaching experience as a Lap 2 Instructor
- Hold Minimum of 50 Certifications (min. 10 L2)
- Hold a valid First Aid & CPR certification (within the last 2 years).
Teaching Requirements:
- Attendance: Wave Skills Review
- Dry: Lap 3 Skill Teaching Assessment
- Pool: Teaching Asssessment: One Lap 3 Skill
Performance requirements:
- STA 4:00–5:00
- DNF 75m (246ft)
- DYNB 110m (361ft)
Lap 3 to Wave 3 Instructor upgrade (or Wave 3 instructor upgrade from Wave 2 Instructor):
- Be a certified Molchanovs Instructor (Wave 2) in active teaching status.
- Have at least 1 year of teaching experience as a Wave 2 Instructor
- Hold Minimum of 50 Certifications (min. 10 W2)
- Hold a valid First Aid & CPR certification (within the last 2 years).
Teaching Requirements:
- OW: First Teaching Assessment: One Wave 3 Skill
- OW: Second Teaching Assessment: One Wave 3 Skill
- Classroom: Wave 3 Deep Equalization Teaching
Performance requirements:
- CWTB 50m with a 100–110 sec. dive time
- CNF 35m with an appropriate dive time
Other requirements:
- 20m Stand-by Rescue (1–2 min. hang)
- CO2 Dive (1 min. of vertical finning with elbows above surface, one full breath, then a 25m CWT dive including a 5m freefall)
- Blackout Rescue 30m with a 50m tow including rescue breaths
Upon successful completion, you’ll be certified to teach Wave 3 courses, expanding your professional portfolio and offering new opportunities to work with high-level freedivers around the world.

Course materials
Upon course registration we will send you course materials in a digital format.
Equipment available
In case you don't have own equipment, you can rent it at Kalamata Freedivers.
Certification card
After successful course completion you will receive a digital certification card.
Diving insurance
Diving insurance is included in the course price.
The divesite is located less than 10min drive with our RIB from the centre. Our facilities offer warm showers, changing room & lockers, so we can arrive to the divesite prepared and ready to jump in the water.

Day 1
8:30 PM Welcome Meeting
After meeting with instructor you will sign the required paperwork in order to start the course. Plan course schedule, home work, expectations etc.
10:30 PM Open Water Session
Day 2
8:30 PM Open Water Session
Day 3
8:30 AM Theory Session
14:30 AM Confined Water Session
Day 4
8:30 AM Theory Session
14:00 AM Confined Water Session
5:30 PM Course Exam & Debrief
