Professional Boats & Safety Support for Freediving in Kalamata

At Kalamata Freedivers, safety and professionalism are fundamental to every freediving session.

We are using boats to access the divesite – our operations are supported by a dedicated fleet of three fully equipped boats, designed specifically for freediving training, deep dives, and competitions.

Main Freediving Boat

Our primary vessel “KALYPSO” is an 8-meter RIB powered by a 250HP engine, capable of safely carrying up to 12 divers. The boat is equipped with a motorized counter-balance system, allowing rapid diver recovery from depth at a speed of 1.5 m/s, ensuring a high level of safety during deep freediving training and sessions.

For advanced and competition-level freediving, we use a professional competition setup featuring a clearly marked 150-meter rope, a rigid stopper, and a bottom plate with depth tags. This setup is primarily used for elite training, supported by depth sonar for real-time dive monitoring and an underwater scooter for deep safety support.

On board, in addition to a full first aid kit, we carry a large oxygen tank equipped with a long hose, available for post-dive decompression support after deep dives (IWR).

Transfer Boat

Our second boat, KOKKINO, is a 6-meter inflatable boat powered by a 115HP engine. With a capacity of up to 10 people, it is ideal for transfers between the dive center and the dive site. The boat is spacious and comfortable, allowing plenty of room for divers and equipment during transport.

Sometimes also used as a training boat for courses and basic freediving sessions, where sessions are conducted on a buoy in a shallower setting.

Evacuation & Support Boat

Our third boat named “KRISTO” is a 5-meter RIB with a 90HP engine, fast and reliable, serving as a dedicated safety and evacuation boat.

On busy days it is also used for transfers and can carry up to 7 divers, ensuring flexibility and rapid response in all conditions.

On board, in addition to a full first aid kit, we carry a emergency oxygen tank and a stretcher.

On-Board Safety Equipment

All boats are fully equipped with:

  • First aid kit (with oxymeter)

  • Emergency oxygen (Oâ‚‚)

  • Stretcher in case of evacuation

  • Necesarry safety equipment (life jackets & rings)

This level of preparation allows us to provide safe, controlled, and professional freediving experiences in Kalamata whether you’re taking your first freediving course or training for depth.
